Karen is the Clinical Nurse Educator for Paediatrics at North York General Hospital. She graduated from Athabasca University with her Master of Nursing with a teaching focus in 2011 and is currently pursing her second masters, Masters of Science in Healthcare Simulation. Karen has been a paediatric nurse for over 18 years and has been an educator in the clinical setting for over 5 years. Karen believes in the creation and use of innovative teaching and learning strategies to meet the unique learning needs of each of our learners. She is an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Toronto and she enjoys having the opportunity to co-facilitate paediatric simulations with the Lawrence Bloomberg School of Nursing.
Karen is proud to be one of the inaugural students who has completed the Certificate in Nursing Education for the Practice Setting and is honoured to give back to others who are also passionate about excellence in nursing education. Special areas of interest include simulation based education, interprofessional collaboration and education, and patient safety.
