Priority Pathway for Indigenous Applicants
The Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing is committed to increasing the number of Indigenous students in our BScN and Master of Nursing programs through a priority pathway.
Applicants who identify as First Nations (status, non-status, treaty, or non-treaty), Métis and Inuit are eligible and will need to submit documentation supporting their Indigenous identity, in addition to the academic and supplementary application requirements for their chosen program. Applications will be reviewed by Indigenous community members and will be considered on the basis of their qualifications, rather than in relation to other applicants. Admission prerequisites, minimum grades, and selection criteria for the supplementary application materials will be consistent for all applicants regardless of pathway.
BScN Priority Pathway for Indigenous Applicants
This pathway can be selected during Step 2 of the BScN application process.
Applicants will provide supporting documentation as part of their Supplementary Application on the Join U of T Portal.
There are many types of documentation that support Indigenous identity. Below is a list of accepted documents. Additional types of documentation will also be considered:
Indigenous Nursing Student Scholarship
Applicants who are considered through the priority pathway for Indigenous students are also eligible to apply for the Indigenous Nursing Student Scholarship. Each scholarship is valued at $10,000 total, paid out at $5000 each year, over two years of full time BScN enrolment, provided academic standing is maintained. There are 2 scholarships available: one awarded based on academic merit and the other on financial need.
Applicants who select the prioritized pathway for Indigenous students that are unable to provide acceptable supporting documentation will still be considered for admission to Bloomberg Nursing. These applications will be considered under the non-prioritized review process and will not be eligible for Bloomberg Nursing scholarships available for Indigenous applicants.
