Interventions to Enhance Health, Abilities and Well-Being
This course will examine theories and research about older people’s health, their levels of function, their interests, and their quality of life. Students will critique and apply findings from interventions studies that are effective in assisting older people to retain abilities and to enhance well-being. This course will also critically examine current research findings regarding the efficacy and effectiveness of specific nursing interventions to enhance the well-being of older people. Relevance of the findings for clinical nursing practice will be discussed. The research basis for various nursing interventions will be critically examined and direction for future research will be explored. Adaptation and knowledge translation principles will also be explored for students to understand how to translate interventions into practice.
