We are pleased to announce that Dr. Aaron Conway is the successful candidate for the role of the RBC Chair in Cardiovascular Nursing Research. He will begin his five-year term effective September 1, 2018 and will hold an Assistant Professor appointment in the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing.
Dr. Aaron Conway is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation, Queensland University of Technology and a Registered Nurse at the Cardiac Catheter Theatres, The Wesley Hospital (Brisbane, Australia). His primary research interest is in patient safety during procedural sedation and analgesia. Dr. Conway’s record of scholarly activity includes 37 publications (31 as first author) since completion of his PhD in 2013. Several of these publications from his research into procedural sedation are in leading medical journals including Heart, Anaesthesia and the European Journal of Anaesthesiology.
Dr. Conway was awarded a prestigious NHMRC Early Career Fellowship (2015-2018) to conduct a series of studies related to improving nurse-administered sedation practice in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. Dr. Conway holds leadership positions in professional organizations, including:
- Secretary for the Australasian Cardiovascular Nursing College
- Executive Committee member for the Interventional Nurses’ Council (this council represents Affiliate members of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand who are nurses who work in the cardiac catheterization laboratory)
- Steering Committee member for the Sedation Consortium on Endpoints and Procedures for Treatment, Education, and Research (SCEPTER)
