18 September 2020

Bloomberg Nursing Professor (status-only) Katherine McGilton has been named fellows of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences — one of the highest honours within the Canadian academic community.

Professor McGilton is a Senior Scientist at Toronto Rehabilitation
Institute and is recognized internationally as a leader in the field of
aging. Her research focuses on developing solutions for improving
care and access to rehabilitation for older adults with cognitive
impairment and increasing the effectiveness of nurse supervisors in
nursing homes. She does this by working in an integrated model with
practitioners, administrators and policy decision-makers. She is the
founder of the International Consortium of the Professional Practice
of Nurses in Long-Term Care, where leaders collaborate to improve
care outcomes for residents and practice conditions for staff.
