MRC/NHRDP Career Scientist Awards

Medical Research Council (MRC) of Canada/
National Health and Development Research Program (NHRDP)

Prior to the development of CIHR, a 10-year initiative between the Medical Research Council (MRC) of Canada and the National Health Research and Development Program (NHRDP) was created to provide career and research support for nurse scientists in Canada. At the time, the MRC was the major federal agency responsible for funding biomedical research, with the overall objective of improving the health of Canadians through funding research in the health sciences and training researchers.

The NHRDP provided research funding support for national health issues related to health and well being, public health, and health care, as well as the training and career development of researchers in health-related disciplines, with a key priority of developing female scientists. Two Bloomberg faculty members received these awards.
