Brenda graduated in 1979 from an RPN (RNA) program; from an RN diploma program (honours) in 1996; and completed a BScN (cum laude) in 2010.  She maintains dual registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as both an RN and an RPN.  Brenda has 25 years of clinical experience working on Continuing Care, Medicine, and Maternal Child at Southlake Regional Health Centre. Brenda was the manager of the Professional Practice Department from 2010 to 2018 and her responsibilities included the Skin and Wound Program, Vascular Access Team and student placements, and additionally, in 2012-2013, as the Interim Director Professional Practice and Deputy Chief of Nursing. As the Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) Lead, Brenda was able to support Southlake into receiving full BPSO designation in 2018. Brenda served on the Board of Directors for the Registered Practical Nurses Association and as president from 2012 to 2014. In 2008, Brenda received the RPNAO Award of Excellence and Innovation, and in 2010 and 2017, received the Southlake Regional Health Centre Dr. David Hill Memorial Award.
