As Executive Director in the Centre for Professional Development, Leasa provides operational oversight and leadership for the Centre. Along with a small team of faculty & staff, Leasa designs, develops & delivers continuing professional development courses and certificate programs to meet the evolving educational needs of practicing nurses and nurse practitioners. As well, Leasa manages the Global Nursing Scholars Program, which supports international nurses with opportunities to advance their nursing practice, scholarship and leadership capacity through exposure to the Bloomberg Nursing faculty and the broader academic health network.
Leasa teaches in the undergraduate & graduate programs supporting courses focussed on Adult Acute Care Nursing, Nursing Pedagogy, and Simulation.
Leasa received her undergraduate degree from the University of Western Ontario, her Master of Nursing from the University of Toronto, and holds a number of specialty certificates in healthcare leadership & education. Her clinical, leadership & scholarly interests have been in the areas of cardiology, cardiac surgery, critical care & nursing continuing education. Leasa has had the opportunity to speak locally, nationally, and internationally at conferences, and provided expertise on various institutional, academic, and Ministry-led committees, work groups, and panels.
