On May 8-9, 2017, an elite group of recent PhD graduates and doctoral candidates traveled to Toronto from around the globe to participate in Bloomberg Nursing’s Emerging Scholars Forum. Over two days, the next generation of leading nurse scientists impressed peers and faculty members with their diverse range of research.
The 23 attendees – either new PhD graduates, postdoctoral fellows or close to completing their studies – hailed from top-tiered universities in North America and internationally, including Yale University, University of Pennsylvania, Duke University, New York University, University of Melbourne, The Chinese University of Hong Kong & more.
Attendees at the invitation-only forum were provided with a unique opportunity to network with other doctoral students and recent doctoral graduates who could become future collaborative colleagues and participate in a forum to exchange ideas where they were exposed to the future of nursing science. Bloomberg nursing faculty members shared their expertise throughout the 2-day forum, leading discussion sessions and sharing wisdom on the successful development of an academic career.
The Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing is widely recognized as a research‐intensive environment that promotes education and scholarship in nursing. With some of the sharpest minds in the field who are tackling the most pressing issues in health care, Bloomberg Nursing faculty created the Emerging Nurse Scholars Forum to support early career development and international networking of emerging nursing scholars who are embarking on a research career.
