On Thursday, August 1, 2013 Professor Linda McGillis Hall begins her role as Interim Dean of the Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing until July 31, 2014, or until the appointment of a new Dean.
Professor McGillis Hall has served as Associate Dean, Research & External Relations since 2007, and served as Acting Dean in 2011. Nominators emphasized her excellent experience in senior leadership as well as her decision-making skills and knowledge of the Faculty.
A recognized leader in health services research in nursing, Professor McGillis Hall has received numerous honours, including: induction into the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and the American Academy of Nursing, grants and career awards from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and a Premier’s Research Excellence Award. Prior to joining the Faculty of Nursing, Professor McGillis Hall completed a Baccalaureate in Administrative Studies at York University, a PhD in Nursing Administrative Science and a Medical Research Council-funded Postdoctoral Fellowship with the Department of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto. Professor McGillis Hall’s academic research interests are in the area of health human resources, the nursing work environment, nurse migration, and patient safety outcomes of nursing practice. She has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and edited a book on Quality Work Environments for Nurse and Patient Safety.
