The morning hours of Fall Convocation brought together a group of top BScN students from the 2013 graduating class for the Dean’s Honour Breakfast. Thrilled to be recognized for their exemplary work, and their high marks in the second year of the program, the students were also excited to catch up with classmates and to discuss their new nursing careers. During breakfast at the Gallery Grill, faculty mingled with the new graduates and offered their congratulations on this significant milestone.
”You have completed approximately 1,500 clinical hours, and countless projects, papers and assignments,” said Bloomberg Nursing’s Acting Dean Ellen Hodnett. “I know that you have faced pressures and distractions during the program, but you stayed on course and you are truly wonderful, outstanding graduates.”
Over breakfast Dr. Francine Wynn, the director of Bloomberg Nursing’s undergraduate program, acknowledged the accomplishments of the group and made special mention of those in attendance who were also recipients at the Student Awards Ceremony. One of the most prestigious undergraduate student awards, the Dean’s Medal, went to Erica Bridgwater for having the highest marks of her class and she was invited by Dr. Wynn to say a few words to the group.
“I’d like to congratulate everyone here for their hard work and dedication, which will no doubt translate into our careers as we help shape the future of nursing,” said Bridgwater, one of over 150 nursing students graduating tonight. “On behalf of myself and fellow graduates, I would like to thank those who supported us these past few years including the faculty, clinical instructors and preceptors, and our family and friends.”
Anticipation building for the main Convocation event, the Class of 1T3 Dean’s Honour students left the breakfast ready to take on their new roles as alumni and ambassadors of the Bloomberg Nursing BScN program.
