On July 1, 2013, Dr. Ann Tourangeau begins her role as Associate Dean Academic at Bloomberg Nursing. Currently the Director of Graduate Programs and an Associate Professor, Dr. Tourangeau brings substantial leadership experience to the position. Leading a number of important initiatives in the MN and PhD programs since 2009, Dr. Tourangeau’s work will now encompass all of Bloomberg Nursing’s academic programs during her five-year term.
“I’m building on the tremendous work of our previous Associate Deans,” says Dr. Tourangeau. “One of the important thrusts I’ll be undertaking is to oversee the assessment of quality of our programs and look for opportunities to make improvements through engaging our students and faculty so we can continue to offer the best nursing programs in the country, and even worldwide.”
Along with providing leadership and guidance across all academic programs, Dr. Tourangeau will embark on a focused project to gather and receive data from current and past students on the effectiveness of our nursing programs. Areas to be examined include how the Faculty prepares students for their nursing careers, how the students succeed once they graduate and if the educational programs meet student needs in the workplace. Dr. Tourangeau will oversee modifications to the educational programs based on data collected.
“A close working relationship with faculty, students, other departments at the university and our partner agencies is the key to success,” says Dr. Tourangeau. “This allows us to continue developing the best structures and processes to not only deliver the best educational programs, but also to graduate top nurse leaders in whichever field they work.”
