“My goal is to teach students to see the world creatively so they can change practice and, ultimately, the profession of nursing.”
In the undergraduate program, Joanne Louis teaches primary health care and innovative ways to provide health care to marginalized populations. She strives to make the link between the clinical and academic aspects of health care delivery.
She is a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and has worked with populations who face barriers in accessing care, including victims of violence in Canada, Kenya and South Africa. She is interested in advancing nursing education globally and has practised in rural areas in Canada, Bangladesh, Dominica, Honduras, Nigeria and Guatemala.
