Critical care patients can experience sudden and severe difficulty with communication, which can lead to negative physical and psychosocial consequences. Efforts to support patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with communication tools have been inconsistent and have had multiple barriers. COVID-19 conditions further complexified effective patient communication. In this talk, you will learn about the development, implementation, and evaluation of a co-designed communication tool for use in adult ICU settings while hearing about the key findings of Laura’s doctoral research.
