Technology is ubiquitous in healthcare and nursing. Emergent technologies generate implications for future nursing practice as we move towards an increasingly digital world. This course offers an introduction to the development and significance of technology, digital health and informatics for nursing practice, administration, research and education. Issues, challenges, and opportunities related to technology and its relevance to nursing will be discussed. Upon completion of this course, students should be able to critically think about the dynamic relationship nurses have with technology, digital health and informatics, technical features related to emergent technologies, and the social and ethical considerations related to the future and role of nursing.
