Clinical Instructor Positions

The Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing provides nursing students outstanding learning opportunities with excellent Clinical Instructors.

Nursing is a practice-based profession, and we believe that clinical experience is an integral component of the curriculum, providing students with opportunities to practice their nursing skills under direct supervision of highly skilled professionals. Clinical Instructors are key members of our academic community. We rely on their dedication during the placement period for our students.

We appreciate that Clinical Instructors make every effort to avoid absences on clinical dates to prevent the unfortunate event of having to cancel placements for our students. We thank all our Clinical Instructors for their ongoing commitment and tremendous support of our mission to provide students with the highest quality nursing education.

How to Apply

The Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing uses CORE© for the Clinical Instructor (CI) application process.

Please use the code: 2023TO2024YEAR

CORE© recommends using a Chrome browser to submit an application.

We invite all new and returning CI candidates to apply. Returning CIs need not provide references or student evaluations. New applicants will need to notify their current unit manager (if currently employed) that they will be contacted for a reference. The uploading of additional supporting documentation, such as special commendations, additional references, previous clinical instructor evaluations, etc. are optional.

Applicants can indicate if they are applying as one of three options:

  • “Stipend” (hired on contract and employed by the University of Toronto);
  • “Secondment” (with agency and manager’s approval, hospital staff can be released from their shifts to work for the University of Toronto as employees of the hospital and UofT will reimburse the hospital);
  •  “CUPE” (this option applies to individuals currently registered at the University of Toronto as a graduate student).

We ask all applicants to be available for all the clinical dates for the rotation/term they are applying for consistency in clinical experience for our students.

In extenuating circumstances, we may need occasional backup CI support. Apply to be added to our pool of backup Clinical Instructors.
