U of T Giving Day 2024

5 February 2024

Promoting inclusive excellence for all nursing students

Safiya Nur a second year BScN student, is Bloomberg Nursing’s Ambassador for U of T Giving Day. As a recipient of the Black/African Canadian Nursing Student Scholarship, Safiya is inspired to share her story about why she is passionate about Bloomberg Nursing’s efforts to help students reach their academic and career goals.

“Receiving the Black/African Canadian Nursing Student Scholarship enabled me to concentrate on my intensive clinical education, and build important personal relationships within the BScN program,” says Safiya. “The financial support of this scholarship helps students like me, to be able to get the most out of their university experience, and contributes to our ability to create positive change within the nursing student community.”

Safiya is also the Vice President of the newly launched U of T Chapter of the Canadian Black Nurses Alliance. She is proud to be a part of a community that inspires future Black nurses and promotes a welcoming environment that supports Black nursing leadership.

“In this moment in time, it is critical that we continue to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion, and provide a platform for students to express themselves and find their voice in community,” says Safiya.

You too can play a crucial role in helping Bloomberg Nursing students thrive in their programs.

Please join us in promoting inclusive excellence for all nursing students and donate to our Nursing Annual Fund or our Graduate Nurses’ Student Society Black and Indigenous Student Award. Your gift provides financial support and additional resources for students who have been deeply affected by systemic racism, prejudice, injustice, and inequity.

March 26 is U of T Giving Day. Any donations you make will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to a maximum of $1,000 per gift.
