The Lawrence Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing is embarking on a strategic academic planning process to inform the future direction of the Faculty and shape how we continue to be a leader in nursing education, research and practice. This process is part of the University of Toronto’s quality assurance practices or UTQAP.

Our goal is to ensure a transparent and collaborative consultation process with our community of students, faculty, alumni, staff, and external partners to inform Bloomberg Nursing’s vision, priorities and implementation plan consistent with the University’s aims, and which covers the full scope of our divisional activities across teaching, research, enrolment, government advocacy, financial resource development and capital plans.

Below you will find key details about the process, resources on academic planning, and opportunities to provide feedback.

The Strategic Academic Planning Survey is now closed.

Strategy Hives – Help us Co-Create our Visionary Priorities

From June 3 -11, Bloomberg Nursing will be hosting a series of intensive planning sessions called Strategy Hives to help us explore big strategic questions that will shape the future of the Faculty. Unlike the conversations during “pollination,” each Hive is focused on a specific topic, bringing together diverse participants, with the goal of envisioning priorities and objectives.

The Hives will be highly interactive, with a mix of in person and virtual sessions. We encourage everyone to attend at least one or more!

Hive 1: What could Bloomberg Nursing do to shape the future for nursing and health?

Date and Time: Tuesday, June 3, 2025 from 9:00am – 11:30am
Location: Hart House, East Common Room

  • What do we want our graduates to demonstrate that distinguishes them as having learned here?
  • How can we become more accessible to a more diverse population of learners, and how do we create the most inclusive environment?
  • How do our programs foster resilience, leadership, critical thinking, interprofessionalism and the other qualities nurses of the future will need?
  • How do we create stronger, fruitful connections across all of our programs?
  • What is the next evolution for the connection between learning and practice?
