PhD student receives Canadian Nurses Foundation scholarship

15 August 2011

Congratulations to Bloomberg Nursing PhD student Leigh Chapman, the recipient of the Canadian Nurses Foundation’s Dorothy Kergin Scholarship. Leigh will begin her doctoral work in September 2011 under the supervision of Dean Sioban Nelson, focusing on the continuing competence of nurses in professional practice environments.

The award was established by Dr. Kergin, a distinguished nurse, who was professor and associate dean of Health Sciences at McMaster University and later professor and director of the School of Nursing at the University of Victoria. The Canadian Nurses Foundation (CNF) supports world-class Canadian health care by raising funds to advance nursing knowledge and research, and by recognizing professional excellence in Canada’s nurses. Through partnerships with organizations and individuals, CNF raises funds to provide grants, awards and scholarships to Canadian nurses and nursing students.
