15 April 2019

Bloomberg Nursing is pleased to share that Associate Professor Robyn Stremler has been awarded the 2019 Leadership Award in Nursing by the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario. Recently appointed to the Lawrence Bloomberg Limited Term (5-year) Professorship in Child and Family Health, Dr. Stremler’s areas of research focus include sleep for families with a child with health challenges in hospital or community settings, sleep across pregnancy and postpartum, as well as health interventions to improve sleep for infants, children and adolescents.

Dr. Stremler said that winning the award is humbling and reflects on the nursing researchers who have inspired her.

“As a nursing student, when I first learned that nurse scientists were contributing to knowledge to improve patient care, I knew I wanted to have that as part of my nursing experience.”

Stremler has shared her research findings in a variety of both mainstream and academic publications. She has received a number of awards and distinctions, including induction as a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing in 2018, and multiple research awards from Sigma Theta Tau International.
