Bloomberg Nursing explores new international alliances

31 May 2012

International Visiting Delegates from Brazil

Bloomberg Nursing values its international partnerships and the mutual opportunities it presents to students, researchers and faculty from both schools. We were pleased to host two delegations in May with representatives from Thailand and Brazil to discuss future openings for collaboration.

First was a visit from Brazilian colleague Maria Imaculada de Fátima Freitas, professor and director of the School of Nursing at the Federal University of Minas Gerais. The conversation with Bloomberg Nursing Dean Sioban Nelson and Director of the International Office Freida Chavez included exploratory talks to develop opportunities for the exchange of Brazilian and Canadian students and faculty between the two schools.

International Visiting Delegates from Thailand

The following day we welcomed colleagues from Prince of Songkla University: Aranya Chaowlit, associate professor and dean of the Faculty of Nursing, and Tasanee Nasae, assistant professor. Extended talks between the two institutions centred on the potential to enrol Thai nursing students in the Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing’s PhD program, PhD visiting students, and visiting faculty.

We are excited about these possibilities and look forward to sharing future developments as discussions progress.
