During the spring of 2005 the MN degree requirement for students in the Nursing Administration and Clinical Nursing fields were modified in order to: a) Add choice and flexibility to students within specialties and permit specialty areas to be crossed, e.g. a student interested in community & mental health/ women’s health & persistent illness; b) Reflect and make better use of evolving faculty expertise; c) Respond to changes in health care delivery; d) Facilitate both student and faculty scheduling.
Implications of the Modifications:
MN Students Starting in September 2005 Students are expected to adhere to these requirements.
MN Students Starting in September 2004 The requirement to follow particular specialty courses within each clinical stream was removed for this cohort provided that students had their course selections approved by their Faculty Advisor/Lead Teacher. These new requirements will not decrease your flexibility but will provide you with some guidance for course selection. Please develop a plan for your specialty courses with your Lead Teacher.
MN Students Starting Prior to September 2004 Students in this cohort are free to use the new degree requirements. They add more choice and flexibility.
ACNP Students These modifications do not apply to you. The only change to your program is the development of a new full course NUR 1100Y, Pathophysiologic Concepts and Therapeutics, which replaces 2 half courses, NUR 1103 and NUR 1104.
