Dr. McGilton’s program of research focuses on four objectives, understanding and developing interventions to enhance: (a) interactions between nursing staff and patients in long-term care (LTC) and complex continuing care (CCC); (b) the supportive leadership capacity of supervisors (charge nurses) in LTC to enhance care practices and knowledge uptake of staff; (c) care of clients with cognitive impairment (dementia and delirium) in rehabilitation settings; and, (d) understanding determinants of knowledge translation into clinical practice. Dr. McGilton is interested in the importance of the interpersonal, in combination with the technical, aspect of care in promoting the quality of care for institutionalized persons. Dr. McGilton’s research is guided by an understanding of the intricacies involved in enhancing evidence-based practice in CCC, LTC and rehabilitation. | ||||
