- Candidates are accepted under the general regulations of the School of Graduate Studies (SGS). Meeting minimal requirements does not guarantee admission.
- Candidates normally must have a Master's degree in nursing. Candidates must have achieved at least a B+ standing in their Master's program.
- A personal interview may be required.

Transfer from the MN Program into the PhD Program
Exceptional students who are excellent candidates for the PhD program may apply to transfer from the MN to the PhD program. Students must currently be enrolled in the MN program at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto to qualify.
Candidates applying to transfer from the Master of Nursing (MN) program must have:
a) Completed the following two required courses in the MN Program with a minimum grade of A in both courses:
· NUR 1017H History of Ideas in Nursing
· NUR 1022 H Research Design, Appraisal and Utilization or NUR 1028 H Introduction to Qualitative Research
b) Agreement of an identified supervisor
