Use gamification and simulation to enhance skill acquisition and competence development in undergraduate students.

Erica Cambly teaches in several courses in the undergraduate nursing program including Introduction to Nursing Practice, Coping with Complexity in Persistent Illness and the Final Integrative Practicum. She draws on her previous nursing work in Adult Medicine, Complex Continuing Care and Palliative Care to enhance her teaching. She is a Canadian Certified Nurse Educator (CCNE) and is working towards the Canadian Certified Nursing Simulation Educator (CCNSE) certification through the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing. Erica’s teaching interests include using gamification and simulation to enhance skill acquisition and competence development in undergraduate students and she is the Lead of the Undergraduate Simulation Team. As a member of CAN-Sim and Simulation Canada, she has developed virtual simulations that have been widely disseminated. She has won numerous teaching awards and regularly presents her work at conferences pertaining to teaching and learning, simulation or healthcare education.
