    ** Deposit

†Student are required to pay for each academic year in which they are registered.

††In addition to the program tuition and University of Toronto incidental fees, students are expected to pay Faculty of Nursing specific incidental fees. These may vary by year of program.

For continuing students,  exact fees are found on the invoice, which can be printed from ROSI.

Tuition fees are made up of three components: program fee, university incidental fee, nursing specific ancillary fees.  Incidental-campus fee includes items such as membership in the Athletic Centre, Hart House and others. Incidental fee-societies includes fees such as health plan and others. All fees are mandatory, whether one makes use of the university resources or not.

Certain fees such as iClicker are charged only once in the program; therefore, they would not be charged in subsequent years of study. However, certain fees, such as clinical placement fee, will have different fee amount depending on the year of study.

Refer to the Student Accounts’ website for further information on fee-related matters.

    Additional Costs

In addition to the tuition fee, text books (approximately $600 for BScN Year 1) and living expenses, there are other costs associated with pursuing degree/diploma programs, such as the cost of scrubs and stethoscope.

It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that the organization where s/he is placed can provide the appropriate size mask. In the event that an organization does not use the same brand for masks, the student will need an additional mask fitting. The student is obligated to pay all costs incurred to secure required mask fittings. Neither the University nor the Faculty of Nursing pays for or reimburses students for costs associated with mask fittings.

The student is obligated to pay all costs incurred to secure required police record checks. Neither the University nor the Faculty of Nursing pays for or reimburses students for costs associated with obtaining police record checks.

    Miscellaneous Fees

Fees are charged for services such as completion of forms (excluding government student loan forms), confirmation letters and replacement of badges, etc. Payment can be made through Linking Health Professionals.

Please note that confirmation letters for graduate students are normally provided by the School of Graduate Studies.

Transcripts ($12) may be ordered through ROSI or the Transcript Centre.

  • How to Apply for a Tuition Waiver

Doctoral and Master of Nursing students who are college or university faculty (teaching nursing courses) in Ontario may be eligible for reimbursement of fees by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU).

Please note the following important points:

    1. This tuition waiver program is a ministry program and as such the ministry, not the university, sets the criteria for the program and determines the eligibility.
    2. This program is being phased out.  According to the latest communication from the ministry, “the phase out will provide funding up to and including 2017-18 for the completion of the program by students who started prior to 2014-2015.”  Therefore students starting the program after the 2013-2014 academic year will not be eligible for the program.
    3. Teaching assistantships and positions that are more administrative in nature are not eligible for this program.  Applicants must be teaching at a post-secondary institution in Ontario, either on a full or part time basis.  Clinical instructors are also eligible for the program.
    4. International students are not eligible for the program.
    5. Those applying for the fee waiver program must still register in the program by paying their tuition fee to the university.
    6. If approved by the ministry, tuition reimbursement is made in late April through ROSI.

    External Employer

Please provide an original signed letter from your employer indicating your position, status, and duration of employment within the period September 2014 – April 2015. This letter must be received by the Faculty before February 1, 2015.

Your employment letter will be reviewed by MTCU to determine eligibility.

    Please send the letter to:

    Employment with the Faculty

If your employment was at the Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, you must advise the Faculty Registrar that you wish to be considered by the MTCU for this program before February 1, 2015. Our office will obtain a copy of your hiring letter.

    Please contact:

    Soobong Song
    Faculty Registrar
    soobong.song@utoronto.ca

Late applications will not be considered.

If you are deemed eligible by the MTCU, your tuition fee, or the maximum MTCU-determined waiver amount, whichever is less, will be credited to your ROSI student account.

NB: The MTCU sets the maximum tuition reimbursement amount each year. The 2014/15 maximum has not been announced. For the 2013/14 year the maximum reimbursement was $13,000.
